For Daughter, I wanted to communicate my experiences of chronic illness over the last year. My health rapidly deteriorated, and I became near housebound. I had little to no energy, was unable to eat and became incredibly fearful and distrustful of my own body. During this time, creating art felt like it was all I had. I had accumulated a plethora of photographs of my own body since 2021, developing a series of reference sets in the hopes of helping other artists continue their own work, in collaboration with my friend, Cezar. When searching through these images, I felt so separate from the person in the photographs; I barely recognised her. One image in particular stood out to me. At the same time I felt envious of the body the woman in the photo possessed, I had the hindsight of knowing the growing unidentifiable pain lurking beneath the surface.
